Victorian Conservatories

Victorian Conservatories from Direct Conservatories 4U

The birth of conservatories in the UK was during the reign of Queen Victoria, when architectural styles celebrated homes as prized assets, concentrating on adornment and intricate detailing. Victorian conservatories were extravagant gothic-influenced structures.

These elaborate and ornate conservatories, with their soaring exteriors, can add glamour to even the most modest of homes – not only complementing Victorian homes, but also adding a certain “je ne sais quoi” to the more modern home.

When added to a Victorian property, a Victorian style conservatory adds a certain grace, because it gives the feeling that it grew up with the property, rather than being a later addition. With a modern home, the Victorian style adds an element of drama.

Styles and types of Victorian conservatory

All of our Victorian conservatories include two top-opening vents and a pair of French doors (sometimes called “French windows”) as standard. Our conservatories are made from a unique framing system, which combine structural integrity with a faster, easier installation.

Our Victorian conservatories are available with either a standard or double-hipped roof. A double-hipped roof allows for increased roof height that is not restricted by the height of the building it is connected to. This double-hipped option is popular choice for bungalows owners. (Our double-hipped conservatories come with a rear box gutter.)

Our conservatory roofs are made from PVCu-clad aluminium – where the aluminium core creates increased strength – and comes in two finishes: white PVCu and woodgrain PVCu. We only use grade 1 virgin high quality durable PVCu, no re-grind, therefore we can guarantee against PVCu discolouration.

Our roofs are glazed with polycarbonate panels as standard. The glazing options are: clear, opal, bronze and bronze on opal tinted 25mm or 35mm thick polycarbonate panels or Celsius Performance Glass.

All of our Victorian conservatories are available in dwarf wall, infill panel and glass to ground styles. Dwarf wall conservatories have a small brick wall at the base of each conservatory wall, which gives the feeling that the conservatory is an integral part of the house.

Infill panel conservatories emulate the style of a traditional sunroom. They give the additional privacy the dwarf wall style offers, but are easier to self-build. Glass to ground conservatories offer maximum light exposure but less privacy than dwarf wall and infill panel conservatories.

You can personalise your conservatory. through a range of conservatory extras.
